The sea here recedes by as much as 5 kilometres 3 miles– every day during ebb tide and then comes back with its magic bringing horseshoe crabs and red crab during the high tide. And because of its one of a kind phenomenon, it is able to support its biodiversity and Because of its unique event, the beach is also known as Odisha’s Hide and Seek Beach.

Chandipur is a beach like no other. During low tides the beach recedes upto 5 KM offering visitors the opportunity to walk on the sea bed. Another interesting thing. When the sea retreats, there is still a little water on the beach, like 1-2 inches of water. So, it feels good to walk on the beach. But if your friends look at you from a distance, you would appear to be walking on the water.
