Not in a month or a year. The global railway station in Bhubaneswar, which has been stalled in the project for 8 years, is moving forward in 2024. The land obstacle in front has been removed. The expansion work of the railway station is going on on a war footing. The Railway Ministry aims to bring it to a new look in 2025. The BDA has given permission to build a road connecting the first platform of the station. The road leading to the station entrance will be built and beautified on a land measuring about 9 acres. In addition, a plan has been prepared to convert the Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Chowk into a multimodal hub.
Attention has also been paid to how to go from Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Chowk to the station, how to connect it with the metro station and roadways properly. Extensive tree plantation will be done in front of the station and make it green. Arrangements will be made for car and bike parking. Passengers coming by bus and auto will walk from Master Canteen Chowk to the station. There will be a large open area and various designs will be done. So far, the work of the building at the main entrance with the ground floor and four floors and the building with the ground floor and two floors on the Cuttack Road side has been completed. While the work on both sides is complete, the internal work is currently in progress. The elevated road on both sides, the platform roof work is complete, the integrated passenger management system, and the footover bridge (FOB) are almost half completed. The East Coast Railway has announced that it aims to complete the work on platform number one of the station and inaugurate it in the first phase in the first half of 2025.
